Lisa Ray Instagram – Repost from @napeansea using @RepostRegramApp – ‘ How fortunate it is when life alters you without warning’ @lisaraniray Thank you for your generosity in gifting us your memoir ‘Close To The Bone’. The book feels so much a part of our Bengali household here in Kolkata, almost like a sense of homecoming for ‘Durga Ma’ unraveling herself from layers of packaging to reveal her ‘Divine Shakti’ ( strength). I @reenaraywahi for one, will cherish and hold it ‘close to my heart’ while I read and your journey unfolds 🙏
Lisa Ray Instagram – A few years ago I collaborated with @satyapaulindia on a capsule line of saris that embodies my ‘cancer graduate’ philosophy. We came up with #PhoenixRising and emblazoned slogans of hope on the pallus and called it the #RayofHope Collection. A portion of proceeds went to support a cancer foundation. It was a beautiful experience and I got the chance to work with the wonderful @pallavidas1 and my friend @sujstyle .

Those images from the collection are still fresh. They speak of boldly confronting challenges and blazing on nonetheless. But they also bring to mind the old call of the heart, to recognize the river goddesses we are descended from, the play of tension between vulnerability and camouflaging it, the natural ability to self-heal and rise from the ashes of our near demise.
And today, for some reason I see in my mind’s eye, endless mudflats, uprooted mangrove forests and a single red saree fluttering across, in atonement. The disease of our times has transcended our bodies. Our planet is in distress.

What are you doing about it? What am I?
