I get caught up in bullshit just like everyone else. Some days I come on instagram and I look at things I shouldn’t that make me feel terrible about the world and about myself. I look at airbrushed pictures and question what’s real, how I’m supposed to “keep up” or if I “should” or what kind of a person it makes me that those thoughts even creep into my mind. I see images and read captions that tell me I’m supposed to be doing this that or the other, that somehow manage to convince me in unsuspecting moments that I’m doing it all wrong and I’ll never be enough or do enough or give enough. It’s a real bummer. I know I’m not the only one who feels this way. So here’s a thought and I swear I’m not being a boss bucket… This is what I’m gonna try and if you’ve been in the same boat maybe you can too? Maybe just for today don’t click on that picture you know you shouldn’t. Protect your joy. Maybe just for today don’t compare yourself. Most of it’s not real anyway and you know what, uniqueness is fast becoming scarce. Don’t let yours die with the rest. Do something that makes you happy, and if you’re gonna spend time on here, look at stuff that lifts your heart or makes you laugh, post something that makes YOU happy, for no other reason than that. Who gives a shit what other people may think or say or if you’ll get the likes or not. This is MY happy post – this video of my sweet beautiful dogs from this morning who teach me each and everyday to stay in my gratitude and to stay present. Or at least they TRY to teach me. 🤦🏼♀️ This video, is a very real example of the kind of joy I miss out on when I’m deep diving into nonsense. And even when I’m being a dummy, and my eyes and my mind are fixed on the screen and on comparison instead of them, they’re still waiting right there. They’re always waiting to love me. So for today, and hopefully tomorrow, and the next day…Here’s to making them wait less, to focusing on what’s good and real and wonderful, and trusting that maybe these dogs are right about me. 🙂 Happy Monday kids. Hoping joy finds you today and you let it stay for awhile. 💜
