First ascent of King of Kokko at No Man’s Land. This line has been stuck on my mind for five years now when I first discovered the area. This year the right crew came together and I could pull it off just at the last moment. A day to remember @blackdiamond @lasportivagram
I’ve been taking a healthy break from social media. Instead, fully immersed living in the real analog world here in South Africa. The vanity of these self-congratulating digital circles has always been off-putting for me. Empty-calorie catchphrases and posting just for the sake of posting. No barrier of entry and anything goes if your hype game is strong enough. I’m not the only one seeing the direction this is all headed and while we work on healthier platforms to express ourselves, positive aspects do still remain; most importantly the ability to share something of value that you are truly proud of. So here is one of the absolute best moments of my year. I discovered and developed this new area now known as Gemstones with the help of a few motivated friends. Place is incredible. No cellphone service, no Whole Foods nearby and everything is graded 6c so no one hiking up just for another number on their 8a scorecard.
