In 1997 I was an understudy in the @roundaboutnyc production of Feydeau’s A Flea In Her Ear at the same time that the great Anthony LaPaglia was playing Eddie Carbone In Arthur Miller’s classic A View From The Bridge, also at @roundaboutnyc I saw that production 4 or 5 times. It was an unforgettable performance that made me want to one day play the role. Happy to announce that I’ll get to fulfill that dream next year at @sydneytheatreco with my favorite actress @fullyrosebyrne from 12/8 -1/16, directed by @kip_williams Come thru if you’re in Sydney next Christmas.

Tonight, @theirishmanfilm has its world premiere at @thenyff I still have to pinch myself that I’ve ever even MET @martinscorsese_ much less had the great fortune to work with him a few times now. As a kid growing up in the 70’s and 80’s who dreamed of being an actor, there wasn’t another director out there who’s vhs tapes you wanted to get your hands on more than Mr. Scorsese’s. Taxi Driver, Mean Streets, Raging Bull, King Of Comedy and all the rest. I took my young life in my hands every time I slipped those tapes into the vcr late at night, and those machines were LOUD. Nearly 40 years later i get to sit in the audience at Alice Tully Hall and watch myself sharing scenes with Robert Deniro, Joe Pesci, Harvey Keitel and Al Pacino, directed by The Master. Still can’t believe it. The 2nd pic here is the only pic I’ve asked Marty for. I’m not comfortable asking for pictures, never wanna intrude. Nevertheless, I hadda ask. This is while we were shooting Vinyl. Don’t I look super comfortable?? The last pic taken by the great @nikotavernise during the shooting of Vinyl. Do yourself a favor and go see @theirishmanfilm when it hits theaters 11/1 and on @netflix 11/27. Thanks.

This man. I saw these at my local post office and was struck reminded of seeing his unequivocal genius artistry in the flesh on stage in Jelly’s Last Jam on Broadway, 1992. I had the worst seat in the theater and I would still leave it feeling like I saw Houdini. Bout 7 years later I’m a working actor making money fir the first time and I’m at an Arthur Ashe charity event considering bidding on a rare African American artifact that was kinda taking my breath away, I was staring at it fir a really long time, when behind me this cool ass voice whispered in my ear, “you should buy that, Jack” and it was cool ass Gregory Hines, who I then told for probably too long about my experience watching him in Jelly and then singing along with him on that incredible cast album and then I started singing In My Day to him!He was so kind and patient and COOL ASS. Anyway, I thought about all of this, and White Nights and Running Scared and History Of The World and Cotton Club and TAP and all of it just from staring at these stamps! I bought the artifact back then and I bought the stamps today. Legend gone way way too soon. Gregory Hines, Jack. #stamps
