We joined 450 Houstonians (that’s Houston, TX) to help celebrate @tahirihjustice commemorating 10 years of service to the community. @dr.joydegruy helped us reflect on our country’s legacy of racism and oppression, the importance of not repeating our history of separating children, and the urgency of lifting up women of color as we work to create a more equal world. The staff at @tahirihjustice are incredible, and hearing from their Courageous Voice honoree, Maria, a resilient indigenous woman from Quiché, Guatemala was inspiring (not pictured per her wishes). There is much work to be done and I urge you to learn more about this amazing org. S/o to Morgan & David (last pic) who let me stay at their place! They do some other things, too 🙃

As part of a delegation, I was able to meet people in shelters on both sides, El Paso & Ciudad Juárez. In a detention center housing nearly 1,000 men, spoke w/ immigrants & guards. The situation is hard to witness, hard to describe. I’d like to try, and to invite conversation. See my Twitter, too. Stay posted, ask questions.
