An escape from the stresses and undue pressure of life in North America and Europe. For islanders, this life is almost certain to be interrupted every Hurricane season by looming danger, tragedy and disaster. Right now, Hurricane Dorian has destroyed 50% of all infrastructure on Grand Bahama and totally decimated all the shanty towns and houses on the entire island of Abaco, where many poor Bahamians and undocumented Haitians lived. As you read this, there are families that have no shelter tonight, children who have lost parents, undocumented refugees who have not received aid and have had to bury bodies of their community members in large unmarked graves… their names will never make the official body count. It is an overwhelming situation for any Nation, especially challenging when the victims are the least socio-economic means. 70,000 humans have been affected. They need help, and there is more we can do if we act together. On Sep 11-15 @directedbykells @we.want.ev and I will be travelling to the Bahamas to physically be present to help support, observe, document and share information for everyone who is interested in helping. Also, to make sure the aid is getting to the people without discrimination. Working together with local organizations, we hope to to create some sustainable programming for the children who have been most affected.
