Lisa Ray Instagram – Heard of @acuteart_ app? It’s the ultimate in stay-at-home Augmented Reality. These cute yet startling anime creatures popped into the picture and that’s #olafureliasson ghostly Northern lights at the top of the frame.
That’s it for my AR experiments for the day.
Lisa Ray Instagram – Repost from @soleilnathwani using @RepostRegramApp – Communing with nature – Images from Satyajit Ray’s debut film #PatherPanchali which has had a more profound effect on Indian cinema than any other film and which won the Cannes Jury Prize in 1956. Pather Panchali has influenced the work of directors from Kurosawa to Scorsese to Nolan.
I’ve revisited this film recently as I write about it. Although at it’s core presents a picture of humanity against poverty, one thing that has struck me, especially in current times, is the way in which Ray’s camera has captured the landscape and our intuitive connection to nature which urbanization and modernity has eroded.
The images of the characters (specifically the two children Apu and Durga) bathed in sunlight amidst the forest and fields is intensely therapeutic and powerful. The experience is so immersive and captures the essence of being at one with nature.
