I`m Claire Forlani, ambassador for the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease. As we live through these unsettling times, we are also seeing some extraordinary efforts to prevent, treat and eventually cure #COVID19.
Today I want to briefly say something about another infectious disease – tuberculosis.. Today is World TB Day. TB continues to kill some 1.6 million people a year. And it is mainly the poor and marginalised who are affected.
Lat year I was honoured to visit an extraordinary group of women working to prevent TB in their own neighbourhoods in Malakpet slum community outside Hyderabad in India. These women are true warriors, an inspiration to all of us. The healthy futures of the children in the community are largely in their hands. Let’s keep those beaming smiles on the faces! TB can be prevented, it just needs the political will and governments with a heart. Stay Home , Stay safe and lets take care of each other ❤️ #ItsTimeToEndTB #COVID19 #StayAtHome @TheUnion_TBLH #WorldTBDay

#irrfankhan @irrfan 💔💔💔
We’ve all been blessed with his acting and brilliant performances for so many years and then last year he did a movie called “ Puzzle” this sweet , simple movie blew my mind for so many reasons , the performances were delicate and nuanced ,It made me want to make a movie with him more than anyone else. We lost one of the greatest acting talents today . So sorry for his family , friends and fans and I am one of the fans . He was one of the BEST actors and he’s left us with so many beautiful , funny , heartbreaking and brilliant performances We thank you Irrfan ,may you RIP 🙏💔🙏
We have to stand 2 meters apart but emotionally I feel like doing this to everyone ❤️

#EndTB #covid19 to register click @theunion_tblh see link in bio .This open discussion will focus in particular on the mental health challenges of dealing with TB and COVID-19, the mental toll of these viruses can be overlooked and even dismissed yet the mental struggle can be huge .The discussion will also include the issues around the stigma which so many survivors of both diseases face. TB survivors have lived with this for decades and their support and sharing with COVID survivors can be of great value. Six months after the Sars-Cov-2 novel coronavirus was identified in China, statistics about COVID-19 including fatality and contagion rates are still daily news worldwide. Reports of the impact that COVID-19 is already having on the tuberculosis response in many countries and models of its potential long term impact are deeply worrying. Beyond the statistics, the personal experiences of those affected can easily be overlooked.
To bring the personal experiences of those affected by COVID-19 and TB to the fore, The Union’s Community Advisory Panel will be holding a web based conversation with TB survivors, COVID-19 survivors and advocates, to ensure that the individual lived experiences of TB and COVID-19 are heard.
Other topics will include how the TB response has been affected by COVID-19 and community responses to this.
Kate O’Brien and Ezio Tavora Dos Santos Filho, both TB survivors, will chair the discussion.
As a Union Ambassador, I will be one of the panelists along with Dr Purna C. Kashyap, a Covid-19 survivor, based in the USA, Athira Elssa Johnson, who is currently receiving treatment for TB, and living in Kerala, India. Dr Thato Mosidi, XDR TB survivor, who lives in South Africa. We want as many people as possible to join us at this event so please go to The Union’s feed @theunion_tblh and click on the link in their bio to register for your free place. Together, we can beat #COVID19 and we can #EndTB.

#DavidHockney Paintings and thoughts From him to us 🧡🧡🧡🧡. “We have lost touch with nature rather foolishly as we are a part of it, not outside it. This will in time be over and then what? What have we learned? I am 83 years old, I will die. The cause of death is birth. ‘The only real things in life are food and love in that order, just like our little dog Ruby. I really believe this and the source of art is love. ‘I love life.’
Let’s DO THIS! 👏❤️👍
