Most of the higher ranking officers have been unconsciously taught to be indirect racist in their training by calling anyone who questions their authority, thugs (aggressive black or Hispanic men or women) or labeled priority threat (anyone who doesn’t comply immediately) When I worked at Club Ripples, we used to have a relationship with the Long Beach Police Department, taking them pizzas once a month and doing Beach cleaning (servicing the community) They have always been people who chose the hardest job in the world to me. Maybe when them checks stop rolling into their accounts, then they can & will be reminded that they are human JUST LIKE US! It’s funny how people hide behind white sheets, others hide behind a blue badge but we don’t hide behind our Blackness. We were it proud and often get disrespected because of it… Just think! We should start defunding the police to give them a human reality check.
