What is “Roll Up Your Sleeves”? Roll Up Your Sleeves is a movement dedicated to those who are suffering the physical scars from mental illness including, self harm, NSSID, drug abuse, and suicide attempts. Many people find it difficult to move forward from the stigma attached and the constant reminders branded on their bodies. We would like to offer a solution, free of cost, to anybody suffering in silence. Your struggle does not define you, and neither do your scars.
I have proudly partnered up with renowned cosmetic surgeon, Doctor Alexander Rivkin, to launch our new campaign Roll Up Your Sleeves, in support of Mental Health Awareness. Roll Up Your Sleeves is an organization designed to help instill confidence and hope to those who suffer with the physical scars from their battle with mental illness, by offering a non-invasive, non-surgical procedure to help diminish the appearance of scars. Dr. Rivkin will be providing this self-created procedure completely pro-bono. His abilities to erase scars that stand as a constant reminder of one’s past, can help a person tremendously move forward on the path to healing and well being. I understand the reality that not everybody can afford the cost of treatment, or may be ashamed to even look for solutions, and this is why we created Roll Up Your Sleeves. I’m so proud to be working with Dr. Rivkin, who is donating his time and expertise, to offer this service at no cost to those in need. Roll Up Your Sleeves is dedicated to help as many people possible put their past behind them, feel confident, and hopeful again. This has been a labor of love of mine for years, Dr. Rivkin and I are so grateful for the enormous amount of support and love we’ve received in just the last 24hrs from all over the world. We are currently working on the website to make it a fully functioning site that will serve as a space for community, support, compassion, and informative resources. Please bare with us while it’s under construction. You can still go to the site and subscribe or if you’d like to make an appointment to see Dr. Rivkin please go @westside_aesthetics or call (310) 443-5273.

Five years ago today, love won.
Change is always possible, let our past victories remind us that nothing is impossible, and inspire us to keep fighting for it. “Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.” Maya Angelou #LoveIsLove

I’d just like to take a moment and just say how proud I am of my momma. She drove to West Point to protest for #blacklivesmatter during President Trumps commencement speech, along with 300 other individuals. An immigrant who came to this country for a better life, she has been fighting for equality and democracy before I was even conceived. Everything I know to be true and believe was taught and instilled in me at first breath from a woman with deep compassion and love for humanity. If ever there was an example of how we need to inform and educate our kids about the injustice and equalities that still exist in this world, I am it. I was taught to be grateful, to be kind, to be strong, to use my intellect, to be confident, to be responsible for my own actions, to give, to have compassion and empathy, to use my voice, to work hard. to not take anything for granted, and to love without prejudice. If that’s not worthy of spotlighting, I don’t know what is. The irony here is I never wanted to be anything like my mother when growing up, we had a “difficult” relationship to put it nicely. Now as an adult I’ve never been more proud to say I am my mothers daughter completely through and through. She paved a path for me to succeed I never would have had the opportunity had she not come to this country. It wasn’t easy. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into providing a life for her children she has so bravely sacrificed for and has never asked for anything in return. Thank you for not giving on up me. Thank you for teaching me values. Thank you for never making excuses. Thank you for showing me right from wrong . Thank you for staying true to who you are and what you believe. Thank you for instilling me with the resilience and resolve that only a single mother like you can. When the world becomes a difficult and scary place your blood runs through me and I hear “get up mammina”! Because we don’t run and hide, we show up and fight for what’s right. It’s a privilege to be your daughter.

It’s easy to lose perspective when everything around you becomes so chaotic. It’s like trying to see straight after riding the tea cups and your head is still spinning it takes a moment to find your footing. I understand our country is in chaos, because we’re fighting for something worth fighting for. If you’ve been to any #blacklivesmatter protest or supported the movement in any way you’ve exercised your freedom of speech, freedom to assemble, and freedom of press in a free democratic society. These rights have allowed us to bring about change and reform throughout history, and will continue in the future. Now imagine having them taken away. Imagine not being able to speak your opinion, having no freedom of press, and not being allowed to protest for justice, civil rights, and equality. It’s difficult to imagine, and unimaginable to think what we would even look like as a society today. SO, as I take a moment to find my own footing, and let my head stop spinning, I just want share a little bit of my perspective. Hong Kong is currently right now losing their democracy to China. Everything we have a god given right to in this country is being snuffed out to an entire society that have only known the same rights we may sometimes take for granted. China is now enforcing a National Security Law over Hong Kong, which has been autonomous from China, abiding by the one country two systems agreement since 1997. So all the rights we are currently flexing here in the USA fighting for #BLM movement will soon be gone to the citizens of Hong Kong. If you believe in defending democracy, freedom, and basic human rights, I’m asking you to please go to the link in my bio and donate to the Hong Kong Democracy Council. #freehongkong #defenddemocracy #glorytohongkong #humanrights #humanity #HKDC
