Lisa Ray Instagram – These artful vignettes arrived in Singapore. When I first saw @rajovilla work on a commissioned cover for @bazaarindia they resonated deep in some secret place. When I looked up Joya’s work online, I understood we share parallel experiences of growing up bi-racial with strong emotional and aesthetic ties to our Bangla lineage. Anyone who has read @closetothebone.book understands how my childhood memories of summer vacations in our ancestral home in North Kolkata and another in Serampore have flavoured my life: in @rajovilla I find a visual vocabulary to express that affection and nostalgia.
