Continuing my walk down memory lane as we approach tonight’s @greenleafown series finale… A rare situation is when those of us playing a dysfunctional family don’t get caught up in that energy and manage to maintain healthy, growing, professional and personal relationships. Such has been my experience with my #Greenleaf family. My favorite scenes were with all of us together, but I absolutely adored working with each of these wonderful folk, individually. Each opportunity was a chance to live through the specificity of each relationship. I loved my scenes with @lammanruckerofficial/Jacob because we don’t have enough examples of the importance of father/son relationships. Having two daughters who couldn’t be more different, getting to show my love for @deborahjoywinans/Charity and Gigi/@merledandridge not only warmed my heart on camera, but taught me how to behave at home. Getting to work on and work out challenges with @mslynnwhitfield/Lady Mae really taught me how to navigate some things with my real life First Lady. The communication from all these beautiful actors has fed my life in ways words just don’t fully illustrate. I love them all.
As the #Greenleaf series finale approaches, I’ve been reminiscing about this incredible journey! Join me for a walk down memory lane… I remember this moment at the Tribeca Film Festival with Oprah, Lynn, and Merle, thinking “Whatever happens, we were a part of something beautiful! Difference making!” Then at the after party, it was announced that we’d been picked up for Season 2. I thought “Thank you, GOD! Thank You!” What a blessing it’s been!
