Sarah Rafferty Instagram – Like so many, I’ve spent the last few days reading through incredibly moving personal tributes to #ChadwickBoseman from his friends, colleagues, fans and the press. I’ve rewatched videos of speeches and personal appearances. I marveled and mourned as I watched 42 and Get on Up—-grateful that his work will live forever, saddened by the thought of what work was yet to come. I found myself collectively mourning with our community for a man I never knew personally but like everyone, admired whole heartedly. So I’m going to leave one of the excerpts I’ve watched multiple times right here. With thanks to @iamginatorres and @violadavis for posting, and to the magic of YouTube for having the whole speech available at the ready, which I highly recommend.
It feels like the universe in 2020 is unleashing every effort to wake us up. To tell us to rise to the occasion of the blessing and responsibility of our very existence. To lean into our #humanity, #empathy, #purpose. It feels like this additional gut punch must change us for the better. | Posted on 01/Sep/2020 08:22:43
