I was inspired to start working with an incredible not-for-profit in my local bio-region, Big Scrub Landcare, to begin a fundraiser to support their ongoing protection and restoration of the critically endangered lowland subtropical rainforest, commonly known in Aus as ‘The Big Scrub.’ So why protect and restore forests? A study completed by Susan Cook-Patton and co-authored by 17 academic and environmental organizations, estimates that worldwide natural forest regrowth could capture in biomass and soils 73 billion tonnes of carbon between now and 2050. That is equal to around seven years of current industrial emissions, making it the ‘single largest climate solution.’ As the arctic sea ice is forming later this year than any on record, it is more urgent than ever for local and individual efforts to magnify now. Please join me in this effort, and click the link in my bio to support Big Scrub Landcare’s ongoing protection and restoration of the critically endangered lowland subtropical rainforest. 💚 I’m going to print this Froggo painting into cards for donations of $50 🙂 🐸 more painting incentives to come! Here we are, spreading the support online, reminding each other that the photo seen in black and white on the news could be any one of us. Thank you @lianacornell @wondermeant @lucywarrenstyle @cynniefortune for reaching out with this connection of #womensupportingwomen We are strong together Lock down, pictured by my awesome neighbour @oshoveit Smoke from the wild fires came over our camp the last morning, and once again, brought climate change into forefront of thought. Inhaling the smoke, there’s no denying it is here. Leaving the camp, we passed Marmots, deers, chipmunks and coyotes. Many of their species already lost on the other side of the range. To solve the twin crisis of biodiversity loss and climate change @oneearth has come up with a plan- the Global Safety Net. This is an outline of the areas world wide that need to be protected to ensure a stable future for nature, and humanity. Even my plants express their feelings now A drawing for George Floyd. His life mattered. If you make a donation to the brilliant rainforest restoration group, Big Scrub Land Care, (link in bio) and type in the address of the person you want the gift to be sent to, I will hand write and post a green tree frog card as your Christmas gift! Big scrub land care has planted 2 million trees and restored 600 hectares of critically endangered subtropical rainforest since 1993. And with your support, they can continue building climate resilience and preserving habitat for the area’s magnificent biodiversity! I am thrilled to voice One Earth’s incredible project- the Global Safety Net. Here is the synopsis! Repost from @oneearth • After more than two years in the making we’re proud to launch the Global Safety Net: a ‘blueprint’ to save critical ecosystems and stabilize the Earth’s climate. The Global Safety Net is the first comprehensive analysis of the total land area that needs protection in order to solve the twin crises of biodiversity loss and climate change.
