We had the most amazing conversation about leadership and responsibility. I asked her about the current social gridlock and paralysis we are all experiencing. She said something extraordinary, “Talk with people, don’t talk at them. Listen to them, don’t just hear them.” I then asked her advice, “Naomi, how can I, a white middle-aged man be of service to your cause?” She paused, looked into my eyes and said, “Stand with us, not in front of us.” This young, fearless leader gave me the best instructions for navigating a future path.
