The bi-racial Hollywood and Bollywood model/actress was born to an Indian father and Polish mother and grew up in Canada. Being a half Indian, half Italian, Canadian, I’d never seen anyone like me other than my own siblings. Having the opportunity to read her honest and beautiful memoir, Close to the Bone, and learn her real life story (and not just what I saw on red carpets), of surviving cancer and an abusive relationship, has introduced me to a whole different side of Lisa Ray I wish I’d known years ago.
