Nathan Kress Instagram – My Dearest Rosie, You are 2 years old. How did this happen? Where is time going? I can’t believe the person you have become over this past year. You are a walking (sorry, sprinting), talking, singing, POWERHOUSE of a human being. You are impossibly energetic, as spirited as the day is long, and your infectious personality charms every single person you meet. You still never stop moving, exploring, observing, absorbing. The world is just not enough. You live voraciously… ravenous for adventure, and danger. You are literally fearless. Like, it’s becoming a problem sometimes. You are a giant ham, just like your daddy. Holy moly, do you love Christmas lights. You yell “HALLELUJAH!!!!” whenever we walk through church, and no one taught you to do that, so I’m convinced you might be half angel. You keep getting more beautiful, and I’m starting to get freaked out. You were never much of a cuddler as a baby, but you’re just barely beginning to stop squirming when we hug you, and we are HERE FOR IT. This had been a hard year for our little family. Tough stuff happened. We’ve all done a lot of growing up. You especially! Your strong will and determination have been on full display as you continually recite your favorite word: “no”. You’re learning so much about boundaries, patience, manners, right and wrong. It’s a lot!! You get frustrated. That’s okay. That’s part of it. In the midst of it all, you have displayed understanding and comprehension beyond your years. It’s truly inspiring. But my favorite thing that you have developed this year, my love, is your heart. You have a seemingly endless supply of compassion and empathy for the world around you. You feel things with such authenticity and depth. Trash on the ground breaks your heart. A Pixar character in danger makes you cry out in worry, and your sigh of relief when they’re safe again makes me melt. I believe your social and emotional awareness will be one of your greatest assets as you go out into the world. That, coupled with your courage, your fortitude, and your unbridled energy, will make you a world-changer. I’m sure of it. 2 years in, you sure have changed ours for the better. We love you, dear one.
