We think that denying our emotions makes us stronger and more resilient, but the research shows that it actually makes us LESS resilient. This is such a GREAT conversation on the new episode of the Dare to Lead podcast.

Brené Brown Instagram – A raw and unflinching Unlocking Us podcast conversation with Dr. @yabablay on identity, colorism, history, grief, and transformation. I haven’t stopped thinking about her parting question to all of us:

What are you willing to give up?

If you recognize that we need a better system and a better world to live in, what are you willing to give up so that we can get there? It’s not going to happen with you getting to hold on to all the privileges that you have now.

The list is long but I’m pretty sure it starts with tapping out of hard conversations to keep ourselves comfortable.
Brené Brown Instagram – When @dr.editheger was 16 years old, her family was sent to Auschwitz concentration camp. Her parents were murdered the day they arrived. Dr. Eger was pulled from a pile of corpses when the camp was liberated in 1945. She’s dedicated her life to finding her freedom and dedicated her career to helping us understand trauma, healing, and the power of the human spirit. I will never stop feeling deeply moved by and grateful for this conversation and Dr. Eger’s work.
