Sadly, bullying can happen in many different settings, including in school, at work and online. And it can have a major impact on #mentalhealth. With people spending more time online and on social media this year, we want to share some ways you can help prevent, address and cope with cyberbullying: - Unfollow, mute or block users who may be partaking in bullying behaviors. Blocking will prevent users from finding your profile and following you. - On Instagram, you can report a comment you think is intended to bully or harass. Tap View all Comments under a post; swipe left and tap on the exclamation point symbol; you can then report the comment as abusive content. - Before you post, stop and think about the effect it might have on others. Ask yourself: could a post, story or comment you want to share be perceived as mean-spirited or bullying? You can become a part of the solution to making social media a more positive place. - It can be difficult to remember in the moment, but bullying or criticism can be a sign of someone's pain; it may have nothing to do with you and everything to do with the bully's own personal struggles. - And remember: it's ok to acknolwedge how the bullying made you feel. It's ok to be upset. It can be helpful to reach out to a friend or loved one for encouragement and support. You can also click the link in our bio for more #socialmedia tips, or head to StopBullying.gov for resources on bullying prevention. #BeVocalSpeakUp #MentalHealthMatters #KindComments

LGBTQ young people face unique barriers to #mentalhealth care for a number of reasons, including discrimination and lack of support within their communities. According to @trevorproject’s National Survey, 46% of LGBTQ youth report that in the last year they wanted mental health care but were unable to receive it. Know that you deserve access to mental health care, no matter who you are, who you love or how you identify.

Thank you @trevorproject for shining a light on these statistics and LGBTQ mental health.

For information, resources and how to get involved in LGBTQ youth #suicideprevention, head to the link in our bio.

October is the start of our latest campaign – LEVEL UP, with a powerful introduction by our CCO, Chyler Leigh @chy_leigh & some awesome designs by our CBO, Angelo Lagdameo @anglives. The year 2020 has been one filled with challenges. It has revealed our flaws but it’s also highlighted our strengths. At Create Change we don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions. We believe in the importance of this day – today – while also being mindful of the need to focus on continuous improvement. We strive to overcome obstacles and find ways to enhance the quality of life for ourselves, our loved ones and our communities. We’ll explore what we’ve learned this year and share some tools we’ve collected to position each one of us more strongly for 2021. Learn more at createchange.me/level-up-campaign/
