While I’m not specifically a cat person (I’m a hardcore dog person), I thought we could make an exception for the next book of SBC, which is The Dalai Lama’s Cat by David Michie. I was looking for a warm, feel-good book, and I came across this one. It’s a little different from the books we’ve picked before, and is sort of an introduction to Buddhism told from the perspective of a cat. I can’t wait to begin, and look forward to discussing it with you all soon.

June is Pride Month and we thought what better way to celebrate than by picking not one, but two interesting books with an LGBTQIA+ theme.
The first one is Detransition, Baby by Torrey Peters. It’s a witty and moving novel about three women – transgender and cisgender – whose lives collide after an unexpected pregnancy forces them to confront their notions of gender and motherhood.
The second one is a young adult book book called Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. It’s about a 16 year old’s adventures with love, friendship and the complications that arise in his junior year.

It’s no secret that books have always helped me get through tough times. Going back into another lockdown, the escapist in me thought it was the perfect time to delve into the world of magical realism, and what better than a book that contains the word ‘Library’ in its title? Yes, the next book for SBC is @mattzhaig’s enchanting novel, The Midnight Library. The premise seems very intriguing – somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each on the story of another reality. I can’t wait to begin this book, and I look forward to you joining me on this magical journey. See you at the book discussion!

It’s World Nutrition Day today and the importance of it has never been greater than right now, when we are battling the worst health crisis of our lifetime.
Food heals… it’s something I’ve experienced personally and also through my work with the @cuddlesfoundation, who give children fighting cancer, access to nutritious food and a stronger chance at survival.
With little or no source of income owing to large-scale lockdowns and other Covid related restrictions and complications, heart-breaking to see the patient’s families at Cuddles Foundation being forced to choose between their child’s treatment and the next meal for their family. It’s a choice no parent should ever have to make.
But we can change that. Together, we can make sure they have one less thing to worry about by simply sponsoring their child’s nutrition so they can complete their treatment successfully.
