After a few merry moments in these gullies, I came across an earthy corner, painted pretty with peeling whites and reds. The crackling of old radio and the scent of sweet tangerines filled the air, and at that moment, I felt my heart sing as I crafted the perfect frame. A poise Shanvi stood amidst all the commotion, her delicate yet fierce gaze cutting through the noise. And as I relished the many colours that bloomed in front of my eyes, I gleefully clicked the shutter button on my camera. “How beautiful is everything that exists, just because God decided to give it colour”. I remember thinking this to myself as I closed my eyes and took it all in for one last time before we wrapped up the shoot. Arjun Kamath Instagram – Hiding from the dreary world that lay behind giant ash-coloured mountains, there was an old town that nobody knew of. It basked in eternal sunshine, and was home to the happiest people who lived in antique cottages splayed across a blanket of green. They led a life of sublime beauty coated with the kind of happiness that always surprised the rare outsider. Their windows peaked out at verdant hills and faraway castles while melodies from the silver river below permeated their rooms. The air, too, always brought the sweet scent of crimson roses and pearly magnolias to their doorstep, and the sun painted each corner a dazzling golden with daylight. Among these glorious houses, one stood out magnificently. It rested under the shade of an exquisite garden, punctuated with tall trees that invited colourful birds for rest and often touched the clouds with their dark green tops. The garden also neighboured a little pond, and in its emerald waters, bright pink lotuses bloomed effortlessly. When the sun rose, the lotuses danced, the porcelain ceilings of the house flickered with passing rays, and the vintage walls painted stories of an olden era. Pinned on these walls, the rustic brown clock never seemed to tick, and the days passed in a lucid dream inside the abode. Often, by the windows, you would find her gazing at the swans and deer as they played by the pond, blithely lost in memories from a decade gone by. Only her eyes invited you in to explore the secrets that lay buried in her heart—secrets that had never found their way into the world. Arjun Kamath Instagram – When Shanvi and I decided to come together to make artful pictures, my heart was elated, and my mind brimmed with possibilities. I envisioned this particular look to have a universal appeal. Instinctively, I wanted the pictures to bring out their own lovely flavours, transcending any preformed rules and notions. To translate this vision into something tangible, I had to find a perfect balance between the location and the flavours that the edgy outfit would exude. So, for Shanvi’s get-up, we decided to take a brief detour from ethnic flavours and explore a more ubiquitous theme. And to find the perfect spot, I began scouting city outskirts a few days before the shoot. Considering that we worked on these pictures a few months back when we had little access to the outside world, the challenge of finding a suitable location was real. When I finally came across this wonderful quilt woven by nature with a charming mix of golden and green, my eyes instantly lit up. Within the same moment, I had already imagined the colours and elements that would grace the frame, along with the attire and mood that would unfurl. So, when I was finally clicking a radiant Shanvi with the perfect look in her eyes, a quote by Thoreau chimed in my head—“The world is but a canvas to imagination”. And I couldn’t help but give away a soft, unhurried smile.
