Laura Bush Instagram – The spring bird migration is underway! Did you know that 1 in 3 birds migrating through the U.S. during the spring passes through Texas? That’s approximately one billion birds that travel through our state! Most of these birds migrate at night and can become disoriented by the bright lights put off by cities. They crash into buildings and structures, dying at an alarming rate. Here’s how you can help our flying friends reach their destinations safely: turn out all non-essential lights from 11 pm – 6 am every night through June 15 – especially now through May 7, the peak migration period.
