We were conditioned to believe from a young age that studying science and becoming an engineer or doctor, was always more superior than studying arts and becoming an artist, or any other creative professional. I through #thetransfomindproject by @onelife_ngo , hope to begin challenging conversations like these and make the world a better place for the generations ahead. Manjima Mohan Instagram – Disclaimer: This is going to be a slightly long post so apologies for taking a few mins of your life 🙏

First of all, kudos to all those wonderful people out there for staying strong and helping each other during these tough times. Seeing such stories or posts on social media makes me happy and believe in humanity all over again! ❤
But there is something that’s been bothering me for sometime now (like for almost 5 years I would say)
I have been asked about it in several interviews and by a lot of random people, how I deal with social media trolls/comments. I kept saying the very clichéd answer “Ignore negativity and focus on all the good stuff”. Well, until recently, I realized I wasn’t finding any “good” stuff, at least on my profile. Cos most of the comments were filled with anger/frustration/bodyshaming/calling names etc, etc… So I decided to take a break for my own mental sanity! While I was away, I managed to do a couple of stories to keep my insta family “ENGAGED” (still trying to figure out why they needed my stories and posts to keep them engaged in the first place!).
I took a break to figure out why the comments which had never affected me before, was affecting me now. Well, taking a break didn’t really help me find answers but I finally understood one thing very clearly! Me taking a break is not going to change these things. These things will keep happening. They will judge you, say means things, body shame you ( call you slim or fat or ugly or whatever), etc, etc… But finally after all these years I really have decided to live my life without getting bothered by all of this. All these years I would have said that I ignore all these things but in reality, like many others out there, it was difficult for me to do it. It still is difficult at times but much less than before. The difference is that I was in complete denial of the fact that it was affecting me, until it hit the peak!

To all those people who always supported me genuinely no matter what, thank you so much for being so so kind. And to all those who didn’t, please be kind to yourself so that you can be kind to others. Because the world needs kindness now more than ever before 🙏
Manjima Mohan Instagram – How can we do this?
I have joined hands with @thetransfomindproject by @onelife_ngo through which a mental health curriculum for students from LKG to 12th standard (non-graded) has been designed by trained Mental Health Professionals. Teachers will be trained and sensitized to carry on important aspects related to mental health. This way both the teachers, as well as the students will be taught to prioritise mental health. 💫
