Yesterday marked one year since #AhmaudArbery was gunned down by two white males while jogging in Georgia. He was unarmed. He was 25 years old…dying as a direct consequence of racism… news yesterday of three unarmed young black men shot by an angry white male in Indiana… America… but not confined by any means to America… Prejudice against our black communities everywhere, Asians being targeted in violent attacks, hate crimes against our Muslim and Jewish communities rising, hate crimes against women rising, refugees seeking basic human rights being treated inhumanely, LGBTQ rights and safety still being threatened- when our ability to see people of a different colour, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio economic standing as ‘other’ to the extent that we feel the right to harm and even kill- then we must look at the history and structures around us that support and fuel this fear and violence… we can change- we must. Only within that change is there light and hope. Love.
I love this woman @britafs – and tomorrow I get to chat with her! In the wake of her brilliant new book #fearstofierce she has already hosted several conversations with women whom I really admire and it’s been a joy to listen to their stories and thoughts – you can go and listen to some of them now too on Brita’s page x

THIS Monday peers are voting for an amendment to the hate crime laws which would see police needing to report and document misogyny properly and therefore allow us to take such crimes more seriously… let’s urge our representatives to take this seriously- to vote for real legislation that can protect us and also eventually change the harmful attitudes around misogyny. Huge thank you to all the people working to bring this to the law commission and working so hard to make life safer for all of us. 🙌❤️🙌❤️🙌#makemisogynyhistory
Sobering new data from @inclusionists shows Muslims are missing and maligned in popular films, with women and Black people particularly erased. The cost of this on-screen dehumanisation is measured in hate and lost lives. It’s time for change. Our industry has the imagination and resources to fix this. Now it must show the will. The new Blueprint for Muslim Inclusion and #MuslimVisibilityChallenge from @pillarsfund @fordfoundation @inclusionists @rizahmed show the industry practical steps we can take NOW.
The fabulous human that is @britafs has a book out today! Read and follow and enjoy! #fearstofierce
