MyAnna Buring Instagram – Yesterday marked one year since #AhmaudArbery was gunned down by two white males while jogging in Georgia. He was unarmed. He was 25 years old…dying as a direct consequence of racism… news yesterday of three unarmed young black men shot by an angry white male in Indiana… America… but not confined by any means to America… Prejudice against our black communities everywhere, Asians being targeted in violent attacks, hate crimes against our Muslim and Jewish communities rising, hate crimes against women rising, refugees seeking basic human rights being treated inhumanely, LGBTQ rights and safety still being threatened- when our ability to see people of a different colour, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio economic standing as ‘other’ to the extent that we feel the right to harm and even kill- then we must look at the history and structures around us that support and fuel this fear and violence… we can change- we must.
