Selena Quintanilla Instagram – “Amor Prohibido” was released on April 13, 1994 as the lead single to the album and became the first Spanish-language song to recieve a BMI (Broadcast Music Award) in the pop field. The song peaked at #1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs charts June 11, 1994.

The location for the music video was filmed at Joshua Tree National Park in California and was directed by Cecilia Miniucchi.
