Did you know that…

– Breastmilk contains more water on hot days and more fat on cold days creating the perfect ratio for baby’s needs?

– As babies breastfeed they send information to their mothers about the unique needs of their immune system. Your breast milk contains customized antibodies that help your baby fight off bacteria and viruses present in your environment.

-Breastfeeding lowers risk of baby developing asthma, allergies or diabetes.
It can also lower risks of SIDS by half!

-Breastfeeding stimulates oxytocin which helps to contract the uterus back to its its original size after birth and to manage postpartum bleeding.

– Research shows breastfeeding reduces your risk of breast cancer and ovarian cancer.

– In the 1950s breastfeeding was discouraged by many medical professionals. Doctors received free samples, lavish gifts and research grants from formula companies. Some hospitals had “milk nurses” who were paid by commission to sell new mothers formula in the hospital, contributing to a breastfeeding rate of 25%.
