Your breast milk contains customized antibodies that help your baby fight off bacteria and viruses present in your environment. -Breastfeeding lowers risk of baby developing asthma, allergies or diabetes. It can also lower risks of SIDS by half! -Breastfeeding stimulates oxytocin which helps to contract the uterus back to its its original size after birth and to manage postpartum bleeding. – Research shows breastfeeding reduces your risk of breast cancer and ovarian cancer. – In the 1950s breastfeeding was discouraged by many medical professionals. Doctors received free samples, lavish gifts and research grants from formula companies.
