Our Lady J Instagram – The last supper for Pose. Last night, we celebrated the final season of our show with dinner and dancing in a post-vaccinated world. Afterwards, I watched the last episode directed by @stevencanals and cried my eyes out. I’m so proud to have been a part of this series. I wish I had grown up with @mjrodriguez7 @dominiquet.a.r.jackson as my role models, the way that future generations will now have their stardom to gaze and dream upon. I hope y’all enjoy our final season, premiering May 2 on FX.
Our Lady J Instagram – Pose may not have brought home any trophies this weekend, but we, as a community, won. At every turn along the way, we brought trans stories and trans bodies into spaces that have historically excluded us, and this has forever changed Hollywood. Thank you for watching and supporting our show. For insisting that television represent the diverse world we live in. For laughing and crying with us as we shared our stories with those who had never before been given the chance to relate to our humanity. I used to think that diminishing both the physical and spiritual elements of my transness would be the key to finding success in the arts, but I’ve learned that performing cishet culture will only get us so far. In order to summon the life force that is required for a sustainable career, we must bring ALL of ourselves to our creations. Thank you to my wonderful stylist Marko Monroe and dressmaker Wendi Williams-Stern for constructing a look that embodies the strength, creativity, intelligence, and resilience it takes to show UP. These awards shows can be psychological minefields for women and visibly trans folks, and I’m grateful that you allowed me to have fun while stomping the red carpet. (Ps – I don’t know why some outlets are censoring my nipples. They were declared male at birth and are no different from the other nipples we see in the media every day, so please keep your shame off of my body.) The Oscars Academy Awards
