Angelina Jolie Instagram – Today Know Your Rights and Claim Them is published in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The book was written in collaboration with children and youth rights activists around the world, and is for them and all children fighting for their voice and rights. We hope it will be published in many different languages over time. I am sharing some of my favorite sections of the text. I continue to be inspired by those who take to the streets to have their voices heard around the world. Every young person has the right to express their views, and to take part in peaceful protest. But even though it’s a human right, protest marches globally often provoke restrictive or violent responses from the state. Angelina Jolie Instagram – I was honored to meet with some of the brave US gymnasts who appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday. I’m in awe of their courage and commitment to preventing future failures to investigate abuse. As Aly Raisman said in her testimony, “Over 100 victims could have been spared the abuse. All we needed was one adult to do the right thing.” Sending support and respect to them, and to all who are reliving this trauma so that system reforms can occur. I was on Capitol Hill this week, engaging with Senators on the Violence Against Women Act reauthorization and FBI reforms, including better protections for abused children, non-biased forensic evidence collection, trauma care, and judicial training.
