Ya’ll! This right here spoke to the depth of my soul. I have had many a great convo’s with close friends and my bro/fam about this oh so very important concept.

In school I remember COUNTLESS times being asked, where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10? Etc, etc. Culturally or just society in general gives us these timelines for things that if you let them (and I once did!) they can really f*<k with how you perceive your life and “how it’s going”. Everyone who knows me knows I enthusiastically enjoy scratching something off my ‘To Do’ list. I thrive on “plans” and (seemingly) knowing what’s to come. A whole lotta different things have contributed to that personality trait and I am successfully doing a whole lotta different things to let a lot of that shit go! I still enjoy a good planner 😅 annnd I mean, work in progress with the rest BUT I did just buy a plane ticket somewhere without knowing where I’m staying and what’s happening once I’m there sooo the work is werrrking! 😂

All that to say is, DO NOT let go of those dreams you have but please, please, PLEASE be flexible and wholeheartedly OPEN to how you get there. I’m using a lot of CAPS and curse words because I’m speaking (happily & passionately!) from the other side of *thinking* I could only be happy if the picture looked exactly the way I painted it when I was a kid! And you know what, some of it does! But a lot of that painting really doesn’t look like I thought at all. And yet, it’s still SO beautiful. And my canvas is actually a whole lot bigger than I thought! Sooo I’m still painting, with some new brushes, and some fancy new paint, and . . .
