Through our month long stay in Goa last year (Sept. 2020) I remember only taking photographs chest up as I was 5 months pregnant and we had still not announced it.
I remember getting so annoyed with Nakuul because I would never be able to share any of the pictures I had taken simply because of my bump showing.
Then one day, whilst we were day-tripping in Dewar island, I told Nakuul, ‘Enough is enough, it’s time we just put it out that we are expecting’. And to my surprise, he was like ‘Cool, let’s do it.’
He stopped the car in the middle of nowhere, got the tripod out of the car, took me right in the middle of these gorgeous fields, put the camera on timer and asked me to pose… And I was like ‘Wait, what am I suppose to do?’ He asked me to just hold my belly. And just like that we got the photo to announce our pregnancy.
It’s only when we got back to our villa, I realised that my chipped nail paint looked horrible in the photograph and I canned the idea of announcing my pregnancy that day.
All of next day Nakuul and I went looking for a nail paint remover from one pharmacy to the other, until we finally found one.
So that’s the story behind why we didn’t go with the “Holding Belly in the Green Fields with the messed up Nails” photo…
Sounds a little lame right now, but my pregnancy hormones dint make me feel that way…
Now that I have a child, it’s made me realise that chipped nail paint is the most non existential crisis one can even imagine amidst a plethora of real ones…

Yes! That’s right! I do this all day, everyday… I sing to him, dance for him, cuddle him, turn him around, roll him up, tuck him in and kiss him every 10 seconds. I do all sorts of different things to entertain @babysufim from morning to night. And yet, I can’t get enough of him.
Do all new parents feel the same way?

Hey Mommies,
Do you feel like there are days where you are just exhausted doing the same thing again & again – Feeding, pumping, planning meals, constantly attending to your little one, sorting out meds, playing, entertaining, holding-rocking them, making them nap… When they are with the nanny, even then constantly checking if the nanny is doing everything the right away, correcting her and then taking over from her… It’s like you dont want to let go of doing anything for Him, yet you want some time off… And then when you do get that time off, you end up discussing all of the above mentioned chores, either with another fellow mommy or with yourself… All of this while taking a breather, sitting on a couch, with an ice pack and nursing your own shoulder and back, because it cannot take the weight of your little baby any longer! PHEW!
I go through these conflicting emotions all the time, but then it keeps reminding me how all of it is worth it, just to look into His eyes and see them smiling back at me.
P.S — A holiday would be nice… At some point of time, in the near & travel friendlier future💕🌸

When I look around today, I often wonder what kind of a world have I brought Sufi into. Am I worried, scared? .. May be a little bit. How will he grow up to be?
But then, I also realise that I have the power to change that. We all have a power within to change our story, to create our reality and I want to give Sufi that power early on in life.
I know that the things I say to him today are forming the core of the person he will be tomorrow and simple yet strong practices like meditation, affirmations and gratitude will help him unlock his unlimited potential.
I want him to grow up to be happy, brave, kind and fearless!
These adorable onesies from @thecleverfoxkids with powerful messages remind me to stay on this path and their guide teaches you how to practice gratitude with your children too.
A little mindfulness will help us in the long run to raise our babies and I am grateful that the universe sends me these small reminders along the way ♥️

I called my mom last evening to baby sit Sufi as Nakuul had the day off from work and both of us wanted to step out to get some coffee. I wasn’t comfortable leaving Sufi home alone with the nanny but my mother missed all my calls as she had kept her phone on silent and was out shopping. I was so annoyed and angry that she didn’t revert to any of my messages.
You see Nakuul doesn’t get an off very often, and I didn’t want to miss that one chance of going out for coffee with him as I didn’t know when he would have his next day off ..
Eventually we didn’t go out and right when we were about to hit the bed after a long exhausting day of running errands and cleaning Sufi’s poop and pee 10 times through the day ( as I am trying to give him some diaper free time at home), Naks gets a message from the production that he doesn’t have to come to work tomorrow.
I jumped right out of my bed, called my mum again, hoping she picks up this time. She apologised for missing all my calls and I might have also made her feel guilty about how exhausted I was through the day and she was not there for that half hour when I wanted her to be 🤦🏼♀️
I finally told her that she can make up for this by reaching home at 8.30 am sharp next morning so that Nakuul and me can now go out for breakfast. She instantly agreed to be there for little Sufi while both of us get some time off for ourselves.
While we may think we might be single handedly raising our children, if it wasn’t for our support system, our mothers and extended family, to be honest, none of this would be possible.
Someone rightly said, that it takes a village to raise a child.
