Ali Bastian Instagram – Finally finished Isla’s nursery!!!!! Paradise desert island scene – complete with monkeys, flamingos, penguins and a sloth as requested by my little 🐒. More photos to follow! Painted by my beautiful friend @agaskiba.art 🌈💕 We ended up doing a great big game of house Tetris when we realised we were never going to feel settled sleeping in the loft room with the nursery on the floor below – so we moved into Isla’s room and turned the spare room/office into her nursery. It’s worked so well and has actually been lovely to have another run at designing her room. The only thing is we hear a lot more from our neighbours beneath on this floor and we realise they must hear so much from us!! We went to @carpetright_uk to help solve it – decided to dispense with the old wooden floors and went for Celestial underlay which is great for heat and sound insulation. Whenever I’ve bought carpet in the past I’ve always gone for a more luxurious carpet – panicked at the price and then bought one of the most budget underlays! Decided to do things another way this time and went for Amberly in Blush which is one of their budget range carpets – and the result is absolutely bloody brilliant!! Top tip – splurge on underlay and even the most reasonable of carpets will feel soft underfoot!
