During the English Civil war Bodison castle was owned by a guy named Lord Thanet. Lord Thanet was pro Royalist. In 1644 he sold the castle for £6000 to pay the fines that were placed on him from Parliament. After that the castle was dismantled and parts were sold and it was left as a ruin until it was bought again 1829 when several subsequent owners restored portions of the castle. 🏰🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 ⁣
