Ed Stafford Instagram – Just crossed the equator between Nanyuki and Nairobi. PCR tests this afternoon then head to the airport tomorrow. Home is in sight. 🥰 I struggled on this last race and wasn’t at my best. If I’m honest I think I’ve not looked after myself well enough at a time when we probably all need a bit of self care. It’s so much easier to grab a beer or open Instagram or the BBC News app to distract yourself from feeling restless or anxious than it is to sit with yourself and give yourself the space to repair and process this sometimes messed-up world. I’ve neglected my meditation and got caught up in my head too much which then spirals into so many self-created (totally unnecessary) frustrations. But I’m home on Tuesday and @laurabingham93 and the kids will need me to be strong. So I think the next 48 hours is a recharge pit-stop so that I’m back to myself and ready to take the baton from Laura who’s been amazing in holding everything together for the past month. If the past month has taught me anything it’s that it’s so easy to slip back into old habits. If anyone else is finding things harder at the moment then my advice would be to go easy on yourself. Self care not self flagellation. Presence not distraction.
