Ed Stafford Instagram – Just crossed the equator between Nanyuki and Nairobi. PCR tests this afternoon then head to the airport tomorrow. Home is in sight. 🥰

I struggled on this last race and wasn’t at my best. If I’m honest I think I’ve not looked after myself well enough at a time when we probably all need a bit of self care. It’s so much easier to grab a beer or open Instagram or the BBC News app to distract yourself from feeling restless or anxious than it is to sit with yourself and give yourself the space to repair and process this sometimes messed-up world. 

I’ve neglected my meditation and got caught up in my head too much which then spirals into so many self-created (totally unnecessary) frustrations. 

But I’m home on Tuesday and @laurabingham93 and the kids will need me to be strong. So I think the next 48 hours is a recharge pit-stop so that I’m back to myself and ready to take the baton from Laura who’s been amazing in holding everything together for the past month. 

If the past month has taught me anything it’s that it’s so easy to slip back into old habits. If anyone else is finding things harder at the moment then my advice would be to go easy on yourself. Self care not self flagellation. Presence not distraction. And as BT used to say, “It’s good to talk” 📞

Ed Stafford Instagram – Finding it slightly harder than usual getting back into the swing of training and a relatively disciplined lifestyle. Every now and again you need to cut yourself some slack and say, “fuck it”, but that can’t be every day. 

Personally I’m trying to get back into a pattern of runs, callisthenics (body weight exercises) and I’m adding cold water immersion sessions too. On day 4 but I won’t pretend I don’t have to be bloody minded and say, “Just do it Stafford!” as the last thing I want to do is sit in freezing water! 🥶🤣 The feeling of having done it though is good. A little high from dopamine and my own little self pat on the back. 

If your new year isn’t quite reaching the dizzy heights that you were expecting yet then share your thoughts and ideas to stay motivated below. Every day can’t be a “fuck it” day. 🤦🏻‍♂️😎

🇧🇷 Achando um pouco mais difícil do que o normal voltar ao balanço do treinamento e a um estilo de vida relativamente disciplinado.  De vez em quando você precisa dar uma folga e dizer “foda-se”, mas isso não pode ser todos os dias.

 Pessoalmente, estou tentando voltar a um padrão de corridas, calistenia (exercícios de peso corporal) e também estou adicionando sessões de imersão em água fria.  No dia 4, mas eu não vou fingir que não tenho que ter uma mente sangrenta e dizer: “Apenas faça isso, Stafford!” como a última coisa que eu quero fazer é sentar em água gelada! 🥶🤣 Mas a sensação de ter feito é boa.  Um pouco alto de dopamina e meu próprio pequeno tapinha nas costas.

 Se o seu ano novo ainda não está atingindo as alturas vertiginosas que você esperava, compartilhe seus pensamentos e ideias para se manter motivado abaixo.  Todo dia não pode ser um dia de “foda-se”. 🤦🏻‍♂️😎
