As another year draws to a close, I thought I’d share my favourite fossil of the year. I didn’t find it this year (I found in nearly a decade ago), but I did finally get round to getting it prepared to it’s full potential. The work was done by @naturalselectionfossils and the results speak for themselves. The work to get this fossil from a rock on the beach to this state took over 100 hours.

It’s the skull of a large ichthyosaur- Temnodontosaurus platyodon from the Jurassic Coast of Dorset.
