Visit my page for the final result⁣ ⁣ I chose clothing in my wardrobe that most closely resembled the painting, did my hair and makeup in a similar style, and wore my B necklace. ⁣ ⁣ I then copied her pose as closely as I could using a remote timer on my tripod. Once I brought the image into Photoshop, I tried to match the faces up as best as I could, and set about changing my top’s colour, adding details, and removing the background.⁣ ⁣ Some items I took from the painting itself, including her gold and pearl necklaces, and her French Hood headdress.⁣ ⁣ Most importantly, I changed the colours of my skin to look much more like aged varnish, and I added in shadows and outlines to my nose, eyebags, and chin to better resemble Anne’s. ⁣ ⁣ Finally, I used frequency separation to lift the craquelure from the original painting, and applied it on top of my own recreation⁣ ⁣ What do you think? Rebecca Flint Instagram – THE FRENCH HOOD: FASHION HISTORY 👑⁣
⁣
This headband was made illegal in the 1500s – but we still don’t know what it really looked like 🤔⁣
⁣
💭Known as the French Hood, this layered fabric headdress appeared in paintings all across Europe in the Tudor period. Worn by many queens and noblewomen, upon reaching peak popularity in the mid-century, Henry the 8th even passed a law stating that the wearing of French Hoods with trims of gold, pearls, or jewels would be illegal for women who were not married to a man who owned at least one horse 🐎 ⁣
⁣
Popular imaginings of the French Hood lead us to believe that it’s a stiff crescent of fabric that sits above the head. It’s inspired fashion for centuries, including Prada’s puffy headbands of SS19 👜⁣
⁣
But… what did it really look like? ‼️⁣
⁣
The truth is a little different to the movies. Based on statues, and side-profile images, it becomes clear that the French Hood would have laid flat atop of the head, and less like a tiara than thought. 🏰⁣
⁣
😭 but Sadly, though the French Hood is an iconic piece of fashion history, there are no known surviving original pieces left in existence, leaving its exact construction and styling a mystery lost to time to this day.⁣

Rebecca Flint Instagram – ANNA BOLINA VXOR HENRI OCTA 🏰 My Version ❤️⁣
⁣
💭 Born 521 years ago, Anne Boleyn was the second wife of Henry VIII, and his desire to instead marry her in favour of his first wife was a crucial factor in the English Reformation, the separation of the English Church from Rome. Until then, the church and Rome had been bonded for over 1,500 years — since the occupation of Roman England at the beginning of the first millennium. ⁣
⁣
🖼 I love imagining the people of the past. Isn’t it incredible to think that it’s only in the past hundred years that we have been able to document people with photographs? Before then, we could only use paintings and descriptions to convey a sense of one’s image. After Anne was executed, all contemporary portraits of her likeness were destroyed, leaving the portraits of her painted since then to continually compound upon the same scarce details that could filter through the fist determined to stamp out her memory.⁣
⁣
🎨 My painting recreation above is based on one of the most famous images of Anne. It was painted in the late 16th Century by an unknown English artist. Made with @adobe @photoshop CC⁣
