Andrew Gillum Instagram – Today’s #womenshistorymonth feature is my sister and public servant, Florida Representative @micheleforfl

Michele has spent her entire career demanding justice and accountability from systems of oppression – doing everything from representing the family of Markeis McGlockton after he was slain in front of his children, to valiantly fighting against Republican draconian efforts to end a woman’s right to choose, whitewashing the history of our nation, and erasing countless LGBTQ+/SGL people for who they are.

A member of @nbjconthemove Good Trouble Network, Michelle is the first-ever black queer woman elected to Florida’s Legislature. Michelle is running for the 13th Congressional seat here in Florida. Learn more about her campaign on her website- we’ll be lucky to have her representing the people in D.C.
Andrew Gillum Instagram – Today I’m taking a second to appreciate Delaware Senator @marie4senate for #womenshistorymonth . Senator Pinkney was raised by her great aunt in Wilmington and New Castle, Pinkney graduated from Howard High School of Technology. She earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from Norfolk State University and a master’s degree in social work from Delaware State University. A member of @nbjconthemove Good Trouble Network Steering Committee, Senator Pinkney became the first African American LGBTQ+ person ever elected to the Delaware Senate in 2020. She is dedicated to fighting the negative impacts of racial and socioeconomic inequalities, as well as the stigmas and hurdles faced by formerly justice-involved individuals and those with limited educational backgrounds. Stay tuned for more incredible public servants throughout the month!
