Andrew Gillum Instagram – Today’s #womenshistorymonth spotlight goes to California legislator Lauren Buisson. Lauren is in her second term as the District 5 Representative on the Echo Park Neighborhood Council (EPNC). Active in EPNC’s Homelessness & Housing Committee, Lauren most recently organized and moderated the “Tenants’ Rights in the Time of Covid” panel. Prior to the pandemic, Lauren supervised the hot meal service, and sourced donations for the auxiliary services of Echo Park’s weekly mobile shower program. 

A steering committee member of @nbjconthemove Good Trouble Network, Lauren spends her free time mentoring at-risk LGBTQ+/SGL youth in the foster care system.
Andrew Gillum Instagram – Today we’re spotlighting Toledo School Board Member @sheena_for_the_future for our #womenshistorymonth series. Sheena is an at-large member of the Toledo Public Schools Board of Education in Ohio. Sheena moved to Toledo from Flint, Michigan about 10 years ago and made Toledo a home for herself, and her three children. Sheena quickly became involved in the community, she is a board member for Advocates for Basic Legal Equality (ABLE), a Coordinator For The Equality Toledo Food Pantry, and a Buckeye Region Anti-Violence Organization (BRAVO) trainer. Sheena is also a member of @nbjconthemove Good Trouble Network Steering Committee. A true leader through and through!
