I have to be honest, I had to take a break from the gram because I was feeling overwhelmed with feeling like I always had to say something, post something, or “use my platform” for specific reasons and it became everything I am not about. I found myself scrolling aimlessly, feeling badly about myself from seeing what other people were doing and everything I wasn’t doing. I think social media can be great in some ways and toxic in other ways depending on your perspective. I know I’m not saying anything new here, but I have to remind myself that these are just highlights. This picture depicts an amazing highlight in my life with my man who is my everything and brings so much joy to my heart. But what it doesn’t show, are all the dark moments I also have experienced and have had to persevere through. So here’s to posting a highlight, to remind myself that life is beautiful, impermanent, and shouldn’t be taken for granted. 🤍
Reflecting back on 2021, I am so grateful for all the lessons I learned. Ready to achieve new goals in 2022. Sometimes having monthly goals feels easier and more achievable than yearly goals. What small goal can you set next month that will bring you one step closer to your bigger goal? It’s all about the baby steps!
Normally I don’t speak out about too much but this time I have to. This has been going on for too long…I’ve experienced racism first hand, my brothers have, and I’m so thankful for social media. Social media has allowed people to see with their own eyes what has been going on for decades. The injustice is infuriating, it makes you feel helpless. The media choosing to make protesters look like they’re looters is atrocious, our “president” who has continued to openly demonstrate his own racism is atrocious. It is time for us all to stand together and fight for each other. If it doesn’t directly affect you, you cannot be apathetic any longer. I’m glad this insanity is happening, maybe this is what it takes for people to wake up, to go and vote, to be so fed up that there is no other choice than to fight for change. I know its awakened something in me, hopefully it has in you too. Find ways that you can help…it’s time for unity. ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 #blacklivesmatter. ***Unfortunately because of people’s hatred and ignorance I had to turn off comments on this post. The amount of division that still lies with race is devastating. I do not want to give hateful people a platform on my page. Thank you to people that are kind, accepting, and practice what they preach by showing love***

Something that @srestagn wrote back in 2016 the day after trump was elected. I think it was jarring for a lot of people to see this ex reality tv star who was a clear racist/bigot get elected. I used to be one of those people that didn’t believe the President had any real power. That he was just a figurehead for the real powers that be to do their duty. After trumps presidency, it has shown me I was sadly mistaken. I have never been so saddened by how our country is run as I am now. I am dumbfounded everyday that someone like him is in the highest office we have and can use it as a weapon to throw his temper tantrums like a toddler. If there’s a silver lining to any of this, it’s that I have woken up to the political system, I realize that who I vote for CAN make a difference in how this country is run. That my voice matters because every voice matters. I write this to implore anyone who was like me or still is…PLEASE VOTE. GET OUT AND VOTE! Research who you’re voting for, what they stand for, and what kind of person they show to be. Every vote matters, to make sure this lunatic does not get re-elected. And if you disagree with me, then feel free to unfollow me, but do not post negative, hateful comments on my feed. This is not a platform for you to hide behind a phone or computer and spew your hateful views. In the words of Dave Chapelle, “Remember! You clicked on my face…”
