At the heart of this short film, there is a fire that burns, deep. A yearning for the characters and the story we are telling to be just that… elements in a fictional film. But the truth is centuries old, tales written in history books that repeat themselves over and over again. A reminder that Humans who live in melanated skin have been forced to endure a constant and never-ending plight to escape… to be free from racism, classism, nationalism, poverty, discrimination… to simply Be. This short film ‘Marathon’ was manifested in direct response to a lived experience of racial injustice at the hands of a corrupt system shared by myself and a group of friends.
