You have been my life’s greatest teacher and we’ve only just got started. I am so grateful to you for all the growth. ❤ Big Sur, California My mom and I with her famous Ragi Porridge for postpartum healing. This is one of my favorite recipes that I have enjoyed these past few months. Ragi is a staple for postpartum healing in India because it is rich in calcium and iron and the amino acid tryptophan which is great for the nervous system. And it’s absolutely delicious. I’m so grateful to my mother who has moved in with me these past few months to care for me while I care for Rumi-Ray. ❤️ Sharing the recipe on @thisis.anya today! Baby clothes are seriously the cutest. It was a pleasure celebrating the launch of @BananaRepublic #BRBaby Baby clothes are seriously the cutest. It was a pleasure celebrating the launch of @BananaRepublic #BRBaby “you do no just wake up and become the butterfly – growth is a process” From The Sun and her Flowers by the one who speaks to my soul, Rupi Kaur. These past few days have felt heavy. While I have been enjoying being a mama to my sweet Rumi-Ray, there hasn’t been a feed or nap time that has gone by without a silent prayer and a long warm embrace to acknowledge just how blessed I am to be holding my child in a space that feels calm and safe. Safe- this is definitely not what millions of mothers in Ukraine feel right now. Chaos and senseless violence is what they have been forced to endure and what separates them for me- sheer luck. It’s painful to watch babies being born under so much duress in subways and basements. Mothers desperately looking for food for their children waiting in long queues where grocery stores are running dry. Men who have no choice but to leave their families behind and march into peril knowing well they may not return. This is all just wrong! If the greed, ego, cowardice and total loss of humanity can make some politicians and supposed leaders act in all kinds of deranged ways then let us make sure to use our platforms to highlight and amplify the unity and humanity that the common man is showing today. It may sound so hopeless in theory but think about how much a kind smile, a kind word and a kind act can lighten up your day. There is so much power in kindness and unity that those blinded by hatred, ego and power, unleashing their bombs and guns will never ever come to understand or experience. I wanted to put together a list of some organisations that are doing incredible work on the borders and frontlines of Ukraine. Do please take some time to read about them and participate in whatever way you feel right. Ultimately, this war is not just about Ukraine. What happens there will slowly but surely affect us all, if it hasn’t already. Resources will be live on my story for the next 24hrs. They include: Nova Poshta, The Happy Kids Foundation in partnership with the City of Lodz, Poland, The Mila Kunis & Ashton Kutcher Ukraine GoFundMe, Airbnb.org, and Red Cross Ukraine. Big Sur called…I answered! Hey Mama, you have no idea how great this is. Anya has been so helpful to me these past few months post-birth. After giving birth to Rumi-Ray, my body went through such massive changes from the toll that breastfeeding takes, the serious impacts of no sleep, the physical healing from birth – all of this happening while focusing so much of my energy on caring for this beautiful new baby. There’s no time to think about caring for myself, and I’m so grateful that Anya is. Each month, this box is waiting for me at my door with 3 things that I need for my nutrition, immunity, recovery, breastfeeding – etc. Things that I would have had to research on my own (and honestly wouldn’t know where to find). Knowing that I can trust what’s in the products- that they’re clean, safe to use while breastfeeding and that doctors that I know and trust have signed off on them- is probably the most important thing to me. I’ve already gifted Anya to every new mom I know, and am so excited to be a part of this company’s mission. Sadly, for many girls around the world, the question isn’t when they will return to school—it’s if they will return at all. Due to ripple effects from COVID-19, experts predict that tens of millions more adolescent girls could remain out of school forever. We can’t let these girls be left behind. Read about how we can all support them in a new op-ed by @MichelleObama and @MelindaFrenchGates on CNN.com. Then take action with the @GirlsOpportunityAlliance today through the link in my bio to ensure that girls can continue to pursue their education and their dreams—because when girls get the education they deserve, our whole world benefits.
