My Bharatanatyam dance teachers passed away when I was about 21 years old. I’ve been pretty much on my own since then. Learning and training … I’ve had some wonderful teachers of contemporary/ modern dance/ ballet at the conservatory, and once I was back in india after that, it’s been a long solo journey. Although I’ve always had guidance from different sources, I haven’t really had a consistent eye viewing my physical progress for a very long time. To have someone who watches and pushes you is invaluable! And I’m thankful to have Somya ❤️ every sportsperson, everyone who moves for a profession… needs this. A coach! #coach @stairs.physio #coachsomya #training #dancer

Rukmini Vijayakumar Instagram – Day 29 #100daysofinnergrowth

Whenever I take the time to notice the small details of my surroundings, it reminds me of the beauty that I’m surrounded by.

I’m not talking about things that we normally consider “beautiful” – sunsets and flowers. Yes perhaps those too, but also parts of our world that we never stop to consider. A trail of ants, the way a fabric falls, the nerves in my own body, the way wood remains for centuries, the mysteries of electronics…. The list is never ending.

If I think and truly consider these things…. Notice everything around me, it helps me slow down. I also realise that this inherent beauty in the world that surrounds me …. Is something one cannot explain…

Going to try to find moments to do this today… 😊

I wrote about this in my book “Finding Shiva”

A poem from my book is in the second picture….

Rukmini Vijayakumar Instagram – Day 28: #100daysofinnergrowth I know it’s been a bit since I posted about this, but the truth is that when I’m working through things it feels dishonest to post something that im unable to do myself. The past two weeks, I’ve tried to keep my basic things straight … the quiet tea time, the silent yoga/ walk, etc

I also did this the past week… when I felt emotionally overwhelmed with something, I didn’t respond immediately to the situation. I left it for a day, went on a walk, found something that would change my mood and then tried to respond. I never used to do this before and would often react quickly to situations.

But I realise that when I give it some time, I’m able to do a few things
– respond in a much calmer manner
– gain perspective
– not make the situation worse

This is definitely not a 100 day endeavour. Seems like it’s going to take much much longer … 😊❤️
