J. Harrison Ghee Instagram – #internationaldanceday Believe it or not, I didn’t take my first proper dance class until I moved to NYC at the age of 18. However, I’ve been moving and grooving for as long as I can remember. When I hear music, my body has got to move. As a professional, I often struggled to own being a dancer because I felt I lacked the technique to claim being a dancer, but time and time again I’ve been given opportunities to show my moves. Playing Velma Kelly @themuny was one of those moments I got to show myself I’m more than capable of rising to the occasion and using the gifts God has given me. don’t know what my life would be without dancing and I hope to keep dancing for as long as this body will let me. J. Harrison Ghee Instagram – This is a picture of me preparing to audition for @amdaofficial in 2007. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into, choosing to move to New York to study musical theater; I simply saw a way out of North Carolina that seemed fun and felt right. Little did I know the fullness of freedom I would find. My journey to today has been filled with experiences that expanded my vision of what life could be, freed me to see myself beyond my wildest dreams and continues to show me I have so much more to learn. When making choices in life, we may not know the full outcome, but stepping out on faith can lead to fulfillment and happiness. That being said, there are also moments of turmoil and tribulation, which simply translate to growth. Don’t let the dark moments overwhelm you, but instead allow them to fortify you in truth and authenticity. No one can tell you who you are, your story is yours to experience and share.
