First of all, obviously, if you’re in LA and have a chance to see @hadestown – DO IT. Flawless performances from the cast and band. Truly a perfect night of theater. It was an honor to be invited to opening night last night. (@samantha_fekete and I vlogged the experience, stay tuned!)
I want to talk quickly about these pictures taken of me on the event’s red carpet. I’ve been walking red carpets and snapping for step-and-repeats since I was a kid. And I always felt so self conscious, because I wanted to smile, but I would see “stars” on “big carpets” and they never smiled. So I decided “Stars don’t smile” – and if you look back on my Disney Channel days, you can see how uncomfortably I am trying to edit myself for press shots.
For whatever it’s worth, I am so proud of the work I’m doing and the person I’m becoming. I love to smile. It’s who I am. And in these pictures, I am giving you a big toothy unedited smile. I’m being who I am.
And by the way? Stars do smile. Because I am a star. And I’m smiling 😁
