Angie Scarth-Johnson Instagram – Most of you who know me, know I have a deep love for animals. I’m the first one to pick up a sick, injured animal whenever I see one and with my own dog being from the streets, this story was hard to hear. @animalloverescue center in Costa Rica is a non-profit no-kill charitable shelter that takes care of over 1200 animals including Dogs, cats , sheep, goats, geese, ducks and horses. Most of these animals come into the shelter after having been neglected, paralysed , mistreated, wounded or abandoned. The rescue centre was funded by their hotel “Lands in love”, which stopped receiving guests in the middle of March 2020 due to covid. as a result, leaving very little funding, devastating the shelter and placing these animals in massive risk of starvation and eventually leading to re-abandonment. To make matters even worse, for the past month the shelter has had to continue abandon animals as their shelter is overflowing, forcing the shelter to place and tend to their animals in the toilet, offices and garages due to the lack of space. This shelter is under immense pressure and there just isn’t enough recourse with the lack of money.
