Rain Dove Dubilewski Instagram – My partner has a glass eye. Because of it she has been time and time again denied auditions when the casting directors find out. Opportunities ripped away. Insults subtly handed behind the camera “Sorry but it’s just too distracting. Sorry but it’s not relatable. Sorry but… this isn’t that kind of film. It’s more for families…” She’s heard it all and throughout this pandemic with in home castings… so have I. I’m tired of it for her- but she always just rolls forward with a grin on her face anyways. That’s why when we saw the role of one eyed street thief Lila Bard (from “A Darker Shade of Magic” by @veschwab ) was up for casting by @sonypictures – we both knew that this was one time that it was worth fighting for a chance. An audition. Despite being professionally trained as an actor, Kelsey (like many actors with a disability) doesn’t have a major agent. As a result we were worried she may not get an a opportunity to be seen. That’s why the community came together and rallied behind her to create one of the most extra auditions ever. And the cast/crew is comprised of lgbtq, BIPOC, beings with disabilities. Including neurodiverse DP @petrosofsparta . This project will be coming to my IGTV on Monday and I am going to work my butt off to get it 1 million views so We can show that actors with disabilities ARE desired- and when casting characters with disabilities they should be prioritized over able bodied ones. We believe @sonypictures knows how important this is! But just in case- we are going to try because life is an adventure. GOOGLE Lila Bard.
