Celina Jaitly Instagram – UNDER THE SHADE OF THE RAINBOW ONLY MAGICAL THINGS HAPPEN !! June 1st marks the start of Pride month 2022. One of the biggest blessings of my life has been the ability to use my blessed and privileged platform to stand up for LGBTQIA equality which has been very close to my heart. I jumped as a straight ally into the movement over two decades ago and have been a part of historical highs and lows of the Lgbtqia community in India. From to threats to my life, to being maligned by fanatics on national television & newspapers to walking the pride hand in hand at PRIDE MUMBAI a time when section 377 which criminalises same sex relationships was in place, a time when there was no recognition of third gender by the law, at a time when one had to really have courage and take massive risks professionally and personally to stand up or speak out. I am so thankful I was able to do that and come out of it alive and successful in all my endeavours. I am so proud to have been a part of this historical journey of equality, so happy for the lgbtqia community in India with archaic laws gone. I pledge to continue to strive for marriage equality and right to family. There is lots to overcome with Trans laws, education and protection laws. For me personally this journey would only culminate with when the Rainbow is truly Free and Equal.
