Evelyn Edwards Instagram – St. Hilda is such an amazing and fascinating person to me. At 33 she decided she would become a nun and in ten years she founded one of the most important centers of Christianity in the Anglo-Saxon world- Whitby Abbey. Hilda was so well regarded, it is said kings would come to her for advice. She fostered the talent of the first known English poet and six of her monks became prominent bishops. She spent the rest of her life as the abbess of Whitby and died there at the age of 66 from a fever which lasted for 6 years. .⁣
