In its day, Byland Abbey was considered to be one of the finest churches in 12th in the whole of Europe. One fabulous fun fact – Byland Abbey had a manuscript collection, one one of them was a manuscripts was a collection of twelve ghost stories! Medieval ghost stories! They are now in the British library. .⁣
